Secretary of Iran's Expediency Council has advised the US government to stop backing despotic regimes in the Middle East to gain the support of the region’s people.
On his twitter account, Mohsen Rezaei addressed the former Director of the Central Intelligence Agency, Michael Pompeo and said, “Iran has always sought to establish peace, security and brotherhood in the region and now we advise you to change your approach towards the regional nations if you want to be liked by them.”
He went on saying that the former head of the CIA had said in an interview that Iran was present in every part of the region and the US should stand against the country.
Rezaei, a former commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), stressed that Iran’s influence is intellectual and emotional rather than colonial and hawkish.
“Mike Pompeo! We advise you to make friends with the regional nations instead of waging war and invading them. If you want to be liked by the regional nations, you must stop supporting the despotic regimes and the kings with the Middle Ages mindset who invade their neighbours. Meanwhile, you have to be honest in your war on terror.” he added.
“The regional nations have already recognized Iran’s influence. Now the main question is why you want to challenge their choice?,” the Iranian official concluded.
