Majlis [Parliament] interim Speaker Ali Larijani described Parliament as a stronghold to defend the rights of the nation.
Referring to the critical situation in the region, Larijani said that the Majlis should safeguard the nation’s rights.
At his first address to the chamber after being elected as interim speaker of the new Iranian Parliament on Sunday May 29, Larijani said that the Majlis must make efforts to remove economic problems in a scientific way.
“Iran is the true scene of religious democracy,” he said, referring to the February 26 elections across the country.
The new Iranian Parliament started work on Saturday May 28. In Sunday’s session, Larijani was elected as the interim Speaker of Majlis with 173 votes in his favour.
