Iranian Interior Minister Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli announced that the country’s intelligence forces have managed to capture 40 members of a terrorist group in the southeastern border city of Khash in Sistan and Balouchestan Province who had dug a tunnel to attack Iranian military bases.
“The suspects were arrested over the past two nights,” IRNA quoted Rahmani Fazli as saying.
“The terrorists had dug a 40-meter-long tunnel at a depth of 20 metres under a house to carry out explosions and terrorist attacks against the provincial bases of the Law Enforcement and the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC),” the Minister noted, as translated by IFP.
“40 members of the group, including their leaders, were captured in the operation,” he went on to say.
After searching the house, the security forces found a remote-controlled booby trap, weapons and ammunition, advanced digging equipment, and a map of the digging path leading to the bases, Tasnim quoted the Police as saying.
