Iran plans to inaugurate 10 new petrochemical complexes by the end of this Iranian calendar year (March 20, 2017), Managing Director of the National Petrochemical Company (NPC) Marzieh Shah-Daei said.
She made the remarks in the opening ceremony of a sulfuric acid production unit in the Urmia Petrochemical complex in northwest Iran.
With the inauguration of Lorestan Petrochemical Complex last month, and the opening the Mahabad Petrochemical Complex in May, 10 new petrochemical complexes will be inaugurated this year.
She also declared that the private sector is scheduled to invest IRR600bn for execution of the potassium sulfate production unit at Urmia Petrochemical Complex with the annual capacity of production of 40,000 tons.
Shah-Daei noted that some of the new petrochemical complexes are to be part of the West Ethylene Pipeline.
A chain of other production units, including ammonium sulfate and potassium sulfate production units can also be added to the Urmia Petrochemical Complex, she added.
