A ministerial meeting of the P4+1 group of countries and Iran on the implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) was held in New York on Wednesday, September 25, 2019.
The meeting was chaired by EU Foreign Policy Chief Federica Mogherini and attended by the Foreign Ministers of China, France, Germany, Russia, by the Minister of State of the United Kingdom and the Foreign Minister of Iran.
Ministers discussed ways to ensure the full and effective implementation of the JCPOA in all its aspects, said Maja Kocijancic, the spokesperson for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations.
Speaking after the meeting, Mogherini said all parties agreed to continue efforts to preserve the Iran deal.
Also in a joint statement issued after the talks, participants of the meeting underlined the importance of full compliance with the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) signed in 2015.
Before the talks, Zarif had told reporters that he was hopeful about diplomacy. “That’s the only way we have.”
