Iranian foreign minister and Mauritanian president in a meeting on Monday explored avenues for enhancing mutual cooperation between the two states.
In a meeting held in the Mauritanian capital of Nouakchott, Iranian FM Mohammad Javad Zarif and Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz conferred on ways to deepen bilateral relations in all political and economic fields.
They also discussed latest regional developments and called for peaceful settlement of conflicts between regional countries through dialogue.
During his visit to Nouakchott, Iran’s top diplomat also held talks with his Mauritanian counterpart Isselkou Ould Ahmed Izid Bih.
Zarif arrived in Mauritania on Monday morning in the second leg of his two-day tour of North Africa, which had earlier taken him to Algeria.
Later on Monday, the Iranian foreign minister left Mauritania for the Tunisian capital, the final destination of his regional visits.
