Iran LPG, Sulphur Exports Up

The Managing Director of the National Iranian Gas Company says Iran has raised its liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and sulphur exports, which has been caused by eased restrictions on shipments.

“The high quality of exported items has brought with it wide demand for them, and many countries have indicated their readiness to buy LPG from Iran,” said Hamidreza Araqi in an exclusive interview with Shana.

He said all the LPG and sulphur produced by Iran are being sold, with a major part of them being sold overseas.

“The NIGC has put the marketing of these products high on its agenda,” said Araqi.

He said that once new phases of the supergiant South Pars gas field come on-stream, Iran will be able to enhance exports of sideline products, ensuring a firmer foothold in international markets.

Iran’s sulphur output grew by at least 20% in the month of Farvardin (the first month of the Iranian calendar from March 20 to April 19) year-on-year, he said.

Iran exports 5m tons of LPG annually, which is expected to dramatically increase once new phases of the South Pars gas field come online.
