Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and Michael Roth, a Minister of State at the German Federal Foreign Office, have discussed issues of mutual interest in a meeting in Tehran.
During the Sunday meeting, the German minister said his country is committed to peace and stability, and interested in working with the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The nuclear deal between Tehran and world powers (JCPOA) is important to Germany, Roth noted, praising the efforts made by Iranian President Hassan Rouhani to open the country’s doors to the world.
“Berlin will continue its high-level contacts with Tehran,” he vowed.
Zarif, for his part, expressed Iran’s pleasure with Germany’s commitment to dialogue and cooperation, and stressed that Berlin can play an important role in the progress of many issues.
Elsewhere in the meeting, the two sides also exchanged views on regional issues and the need for cooperation in regional stability.
