Iran, France Call for Enhanced Cooperation in Fight against Terror

The presidents of Iran and France voiced readiness for concerted action against terrorism after Wednesday terrorist attacks in Tehran.

In a telephone conversation with his French counterpart on Wednesday evening, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said the twin terrorist attacks that hit Tehran earlier in the day only steeled Iran’s resolve to fight against terrorism.

“The Iranian administration is ready to work with the government of France and other European countries to decisively stand up to terrorism and fight against it,” President Rouhani said.

For his part, Emanuel Macron expressed condolences to Iran over deaths in Tehran terrorist attacks, stressing that Paris is open to closer cooperation with Tehran in the war against terrorism.

On Wednesday morning, terrorists launched simultaneous attacks on Iran’s parliament building in downtown Tehran and on the mausoleum of late founder of the Islamic Republic Imam Khomeini, south of the city.

According to officials, 12 people were killed and 42 others wounded in the two incidents.

The Daesh (ISIL) terrorist group claimed responsibility for the attacks.

Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei underlined on Wednesday that Iran will keep moving forward and the terrorist attacks will only result in stronger determination among Iranian nation.
