Iran Dismisses Bahrain’s Baseless, False Claims

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi has categorically rejected as baseless the latest anti-Iran claims raised by Bahrain’s Interior Ministry.

In a Wednesday statement, Qassemi said the recent claim raised by Bahrain’s Interior Ministry on Iran’s role in an oil pipeline blast in the tiny kingdom is false and totally baseless.

“It is better for Bahraini officials to establish serious dialogue with their people to put an end to the crisis in the country instead of raising worn-out claims, bringing up old and ineffective scenarios, adopting a security approach, and suppressing the legitimate demands of their people,” he noted.

The spokesman also urged Bahraini officials to avoid playing the blame game and misleading others and stop trying to resolve their problems and internal crises by resorting to illusions and clumsy measures.

A blast on November 10 caused a fire at Bahrain’s main pipeline near Buri village, 15 km from the capital Manama, forcing the evacuation of residents.

Bahrain’s Interior Ministry claimed on Tuesday authorities had arrested four people, two of whom had received intensive training in Iran to carry out attacks to harm Bahrain’s economy and its oil pipeline.

“Immediately after their return from Iran, they planned and got ready to blast the oil pipeline …in addition to committing a series of other terrorist acts. They checked out the location and remotely bombed the pipeline,” the ministry claimed.

Bahrain has for years been grappling with protests with most people demanding a bigger share in running the kingdom.
