Iran to Avenge ISIS Killing of Mohsen Hojaji: IRGC

A top IRGC commander says Iran will take revenge against the ISIS terrorists for beheading Iranian soldier Mohsen Hojaji.

Commander of the Ground Force of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Brigadier General Mohammad Pakpour says Iran has expanded its operational fields, and its sphere of combat and defence has gone beyond the country’s borders.

He made the remarks on the sidelines of a ceremony held to honour martyr Mohsen Hojaji and his family. An Iranian military advisor in Syria, Hojaji was captured and decapitated by ISIS terrorists a few days ago.

According to a Farsi report by the Fars News Agency, the top general went on to say that the enemy resorted to different plots after the Iraqi imposed war on Iran in the 1980s to deal a blow to the Islamic Republic.

“It’s been several years we’ve been fighting terrorists backed by hegemonic powers and the wicked Al Saud rulers in southeast, west, northwest and southwest of Iran. However, we have good tranquility in the country and an acceptable level of security,” said the top general.

In addition to all these threats, he said, Iran has faced another front in Syria in recent years.

“Takfiris backed by hegemonic powers and Saudi Arabia attacked Iraq and Syria, and if they hadn’t been stopped, they would have left behind no trace of Damascus, Karbala, Najaf and Shiites. However, the Islamic Republic of Iran got engaged in defending holy shrines by taking on an advisory role,” he said.

“We assumed an advisory role in Syria and Iraq at the request of their governments, not like the Americans and others who entered those countries without permission,” he said.

He then stressed that the IRGC will avenge the killing of martyr Hojaji.

“It’s not necessary to say how we will take revenge, but our objective is to take vengeance and we are determined to do it,” the commander emphasized.
