Iran and China Are Safe Harbours of Asia: Larijani

Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani described Iran and China as the havens of Asia, and called for development of Tehran-Beijing ties in all fields.

In a message broadcast on China’s Phoenix TV, Larijani referred to the great antiquity of Iranian and Chinese civilisations, describing the two countries as the safe harbours of Asia.

According to a report by Fars, as translated by IFP, Larijani in this message called on the two countries to strengthen and develop bilateral relations.

“On New Year, we wish joy and fulfilment for the Chinese. They are a civilized nation; one of most ancient cultures in Asia. I wish them a year of great happiness,” he noted.

“The Chinese have made great progress during recent years. We are glad to see China has a high status in today`s world; we hope that the relationship between Iran and China will be reinforced in the New Year.”

“Iran, like China, is an ancient civilisation; we can refer to the two countries as the harbours of Asia,” he went on to say.

“We attach importance to China’s development, so does China to Iran’s progress. The development of scientific, security-related, economic, cultural and politic relationship between Iran and China would be helpful to the future of region and the world,” stated Larijani.
