“Hamas Paving Way for Israel’s Relocation of Capital to Quds”

A top Iranian MP says any deal to return to the 1967 borders in occupied Palestine amounts to a betrayal of the Palestinian cause, and will give Israel the green light for capital transfer.

Although the Palestinian Resistance Movement, Hamas, has announced it does not recognize the Israeli regime, the Movement has, by agreeing to return to the 1967 borders, practically accepted Israel’s plan to move the capital from Tel Aviv to al-Quds, said Hossein Naqavi Hosseini in a Farsi interview with ICANA.

He said the agreement to return to the 1967 borders is tantamount to accepting Washington’s demand and a betrayal of the cause of Palestine.

On the changes made to the Articles of Association of the Hamas movement, the MP said, “Developments unfolding in occupied Palestine and the region show certain groups and organizations established in the name of defending Palestinians are clearly retreating [from their positions],” said Naqavi Hosseini, who sits on the Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission.

Given the current situation, he said, the Israeli regime and US allies in the Middle East are securing their rip on Palestinian land and expanding Jewish settlements.

Hamas’ backing down on its previous stances and giving the nod to the West’s policies in occupied territories will definitely not be accepted by Palestinian people, said the top MP, adding that “we will be facing reactions in protest.”

“After several decades of resistance and [Palestinians] paying the price for it, the changes in the Articles of Association are, in a way, regarded as folly,” said Naqavi Hosseini.

He touched upon US President Donald Trump’s upcoming trip to occupied Palestine and the plan to transfer the American Embassy from Tel Aviv to al-Quds, and said, “Hamas, intentionally or unintentionally, is paving the way for the transfer of the Israeli regime’s capital.”

He also referred to Intifada as another key issue related to Palestinians’ reaction to the plan to move the Israeli capital.

He said ongoing developments show the Israeli regime is cashing in on some Arab dictators’ silence in order to secure its domination over Palestinian land.
