Witnesses say Mahmoud Absalan was killed when unknown gunmen opened fire on the car carrying Brigadier General Hossein Almasi, commander of the 110th Salman Farsi Special Forces Brigade on Friday night.
The brigadier general was unharmed.
Reports say the gunmen were arrested following the attack.
