IFP has taken a look at the front pages of Iranian newspapers on Wednesday, May 30, and picked headlines from 21 of them. IFP has simply translated the headlines and does not vouch for their accuracy.
The top story in several papers today was the sexual harassment of a group of boys in a high school in Western Tehran by a school official. Following the sensitive scandal, Iran’s Leader Ayatollah Khamenei urged the Judiciary to immediately punish the perpetrators.
Also a top story was the move by a large number of celebrities to decline an invitation to attend President Hassan Rouhani’s Iftar (fast-breaking) ceremony. They have cited people’s economic problems and Rouhani’s unfulfilled promises as the main reasons behind their decision; however, conservative papers and government officials have criticized the move, saying that the conditions have not changed since last year when the same celebrities expressed their support for Rouhani.
