IFP has taken a look at the front pages of Iranian newspapers on Thursday, June 21, 2018, and picked headlines from 16 of them. IFP has simply translated the headlines and does not vouch for their accuracy.
All papers today covered a meeting between the Leader of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and members of the Iranian Parliament. The Leader’s call on the Parliament to pass domestic laws against money laundering and terrorism, instead of approving the country’s accession to FATF or CFT, made the headlines today.
The top story, however, was the brilliant performance of the Iranian national football team, which lost its second FIFA World Cup match against Spain 1-0. Several papers also highlighted the historic presence of women at Tehran’s Azadi Stadium who watched Iran-Spain match along with fellow male fans.
The US withdrawal from the UN Human Rights Council in support of the Israeli regime also received great coverage today.
