Top Iranian military official Major General Qassem Soleimani says Washington’s imposition of sanctions on Iran’s foreign minister is a sign of the White House’s “absolute failure.”
The top general, who is the commander of the Quds Force of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), said in a meeting with Mohammad Javad Zarif that the US move to impose sanctions on the top Iranian diplomat was a crazy move.
“The United States’ imposing sanctions on you proved that you, as the official in charge of the country’s foreign policy, has had a major impact on making public opinion, especially American people, aware of the ignorance of this country’s officials,” he said.
The top commander said among the features of Zarif is his honesty and efforts to defend national interests.
He said the US has imposed sanctions on Zarif because he is closely associated with Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.
