Tehran mounts intl. handicrafts exhibit

The 24th edition of 24th International Handicrafts Exhibition has been mounted at Tehran’s International Permanent Fairground.

The visitors can enjoy variety of arts created by over 720 Iranian and International artists at the exhibition kicked off on June 11.

A collection of international handicrafts by the artists from seven countries put on display at the event.

The showcased works represent the ethnic arts of Turkey, Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Uzbekistan, and China.

The event also hosted the works of many Iranian artists participated from the country’s different provinces.

Many local artists and producers were also awarded during the opening ceremony of the exhibition.

“We enjoy a great potential in the field of handicrafts in Iran, two million people are working in this sector, which create unique works that are one of a kind globally,” said Head of  Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization (ICHHTO) Masoud Soltanifar during the ceremony.

Architecture, painting, weaving, pottery, calligraphy and metalworking are some of Iran’s remarkable arts which have internationally fame.

The exhibition is scheduled to run until June 15, 2014.
