Iran’s Hassan Rouhani told Nawaz Sharif of Pakistan that both nations in the region have common interests and will improve mutual ties.
President Rouhani spoke to Nawaz Sharif, Pakistan’s Prime Minister, over the phone on Saturday evening to sympathize with him in his recover from a surgery operation. “Pakistan is a friend and a neighbour with whom Iran has common interests in the region; Tehran-Islamabad relations have been strengthened thank to Your Excellency’s wise policies and statecraft,” Rouhani praised the recovering prime minister.
Nawaz Sharif, for his part, reaffirmed that Pakistan would stand with Iran in the international community and welcomed broader bilateral relations, saying, “For us, Iran is a second home and Islamabad welcomes extending relations with Tehran in all fields of bilateral interest.”
