Iranians celebrated Father’s Day on Tuesday on the occasion marking the birth anniversary of Imam Ali (AS), the first Shia Imam. It is a day to honor the status of fathers in the family.
“During the first month of the current year (started March 21), 45,406 Iranian men became fathers,” said spokesman of the Iranian National Organization for Civil Registration (NOCR) Seifollah Aboutorabi, on the occasion of Father’s Day on April 11.
Men constitute 51% of the population, half of whom are under the age of 30, he said, IRNA reported.
“Almost 63% of Iranian men are married and the current average age of marriage for men is 30 years,” he said.
“About 36% of men who married last year were between the ages 25-29 and 29% in the 20-24 age group,” although the figure is not the same in all provinces. While the average marriage age for men is 25 in Sistan-Baluchestan, the figure is 29 years in Alborz and Tehran provinces.
