Japan’s ambassador recites Hafez poem ahead of Nouwruz

Japanese Ambassador to Tehran Aikawa Kazutoshi recites lyrics in a poem by ancient Persian lyric poet Hafez, to commemorate Persian New Year, Nowruz, which is just around the corner.

Footage showed the Japanese diplomat sitting next to a Haft-Sin, a special Nowruz table setting, reciting some lyrics in Persian.

Nowruz, which falls on the spring equinox to the minute, is a 13-day celebration of the Persian New Year.

This year’s Nowruz begins on Tuesday, March 21.
