Iran’s national anthem was played and the country’s flag raised in a ceremony held in Rio de Janeiro.
Rio’s Olympic Village mayor officially greeted the Olympic participants.
Asghar Rahimi, Iran’s Olympic Team Chef de Mission, attended the ceremony.
Team Iran comprises 63 athletes representing 14 sports federations, including the Athletics, Archery, Boxing, Cycling, Fencing, Judo, Rowing, Shooting, Swimming, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Volleyball, Weightlifting, and Wrestling federations.
The 2016 Summer Olympic Games will begin on August 5 and runs until August 21.
