Iranian foreign ministry spokesman says the country will not overlook any move that would jeopardise its national security.
Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi says the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC)’s retaliatory missile attacks on terrorists’ positions in Syria was a firm and prompt response to the recent terrorist attacks in Tehran.
“The IRGC’s missile attack was conducted with the prior knowledge of the Syrian government,” he said.
He warned Takfiri terrorist groups and their supporters against any move targeting Iran.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran will not turn a blind eye to any destabilising move that would imperil its national security and its citizens’ security,” he said, adding, “Tehran will give a firm, prompt and prudent response to such moves.”
“Last night’s missile attack on terrorist elements and their bases came to ensure the security of Iranian citizens” with reliance on domestic defence capabilities, said the spokesman.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran has always warned against the spread of terrorism and threats caused by the scourge of terrorism in the region and across the world,” said Qassemi.
He said Iran’s policy is to cooperate with regional countries as well as the international community to uproot terrorism and extremism in the region and across the globe.
“Within this framework, we will draw on our military capabilities to give a crushing response to any aggression or threat against the country,” the spokesman underscored.
